Abstract

Process for the production of a multiplicity of isocyanate compositions, from a mixture of methylene-bridged polyphenylpolyisocyanates polyisocyanates containing 40 to 85% of diphenylmethanediisocyanates and produced by phosgenation of a mixture of polyamines, obtained by condensation of aniline and formaldehyde, characterized in that it comprises (a) distilling said polyisocyanate mixture and separating 5 to 70% of the diisocyanate with respect to it, as overhead volatile products (product II), leaving a residue of methylene-bridged polyphenylpolysisocyanates (product I) and (b) subjecting product II to a crystallization process so that a crystallized 4,4'-diphenylmethanediisocyanate (product III) and a mother liquor (product IV) comprising 10 to 55% of 2,4'are obtained. -diphenylmethane diisocyanate and 90 to 45% of 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate.
