Abstract

A waveguide mixer including a mixing diode mounted on or immediately adjacent to a resonant opening in a wall of a first waveguide length and constituting, on one side of the mixing diode, an evanescent mode filter for coupling the mixing diode to the signal supply and, on the other side of the mixer diode, a filter in evanescent mode to couple the mixer diode to the local oscillator. Covering said opening and containing said mixing diode when mounted adjacent to the opening, a second waveguide length having a cross-sectional dimension such that it is evanescent at the image frequency generated by the mixer and propagating at the sum frequency generated by the mixer .
