Abstract

A process for the manufacture of solid urethane resin articles, characterized by (1) mixing and reacting (A) an ammonia or amine initiated polyether polyol with a hydroxy equivalent weight of between 50 and less than 250; (B) an organic polyisocyanate and (C) a liquid modifying compound with a boiling point above 150ºC, selected from the group consisting of hydroxylated and non-hydroxylated polyoxyalkylene compounds, ester modified polyoxyalkylene compounds, organic phosphates, phosphites organic, organic phosphonates cyclic ethers, aromatics, partially hydrogenated aromatics, organic carbonates, chlorinated aliphatic compounds, cyclic sulfones and carboxylic acid esters, where components (A) and (B) are present in amounts such that the NCO ratio: OH is between 0.8 and 1.5 and component (C) is used in proportions of 5 to 60% of the combined weight of components (A), (B) and (C), (2) introduce the mixture reaction in a mold; and (3) separating the finished articles from the mold.
