Abstract

A method for treating grain comprising the steps of: feeding a quantity of grain to a compartment of a cylindrical container that is mounted with its axis substantially horizontal and is rotatable around such an axis, the compartment of which is separated from another compartment of the container by a perforated weight element that forms a longitudinal division inside said container; supplying an amount of liquid to said container; causing the container to rotate to mix said grain and liquid; stopping the rotation of said container in such a position that said grain is supported on said floor element, causing air circulation in said container, making it pass upwards through said perforated floor element and the grain layer supported on the same to keep said grain in a suitable state for germination; and after the germination of said grain pass heated air upward through said perforated floor element and said layer of grain to thereby dry said grain.
