Abstract

Method for producing a crushed foam coated substrate, characterized by comprising: (A) Coating the substrate up to 60 thousandths of an inch (approx. 1.52 mm) thick with polymeric latex foam; (B) Partially dry the foam; (C) Crush the partially dried foam to a pressure of up to 50 p.s.i. (approx. 3.5 kg/cm) and at room temperature; (D) Iron or emboss the substrate covered with crushed foam at a pressure of 5 to 2000 p.s.i. (approx. 0.35 to 140 kg/cm) and at a high temperature of maximum 250ºF (approx. 121ºC) to increase the adhesion of the crushed foam to the substrate; and (E) Dry and cure the ironed or embossed foam at a temperature of 250 to 375ºF (approx., 121 to 190ºC).
