Abstract

Procedure to obtain high-density polyethylenes that have a good processability, characterized in that it consists of thermomechanically treating, in an apparatus with a strong homogenizing power, one or more linear polyethylenes with a density greater than 0.94 g/cc, one point melting point greater than 120ºC, a solubility of tetrahydronaphthalene at 135ºC, an intrinsic viscosity [η] and a melt index m such as to identify in the diagram of figure 1 the points that coincide with the straight line of equation [η ] = 1.5m-0.164 or above it, with an organic peroxide in such quantities to leave its density, melting point, intrinsic viscosity [η] and solubility in tetrahydronaphthalene at 135ºC practically unchanged, but as for cause a decrease in the melt index m to values that in the diagram of figure 1 are below the referred straight line.
