Improvements in osmotic active agent dispensers, comprising a first compartment of relatively impermeable material containing an active agent and provided with means for releasing the active agent to the outside of the distributor, and a second, controlled water permeability compartment containing a solution of an osmotically effective solute showing an osmotic pressure gradient against water, said first and second compartments being constructed such that said first compartment decreases in volume in response to an increase in volume of the solution in said second compartment by water absorption by osmosis therein, so as water flows into the distributor in a trend toward osmotic equilibrium with its environment, active agent is continuously squeezed from it at an osmotically controlled rate over an extended period of time; characterized in that the active agent is formulated in a different form from that of being completely in liquid solution.
