Abstract

A process for the manufacture of spherical enzymatic compositions, which have increased stability during storage and during exposure to oxidizing agents, which comprises mixing a normally solid enzyme with a normally solid synthetic organic surfactant at a temperature at which the enzyme is stable and for a period long enough to prepare a homogenous mixture of enzyme and surfactant, compressing the mixture under a sufficiently high pressure and mechanically working it to make it plastic, forcing the plastic mixture worked through openings, small to produce filaments thereof that resemble noodles having a diameter of approximately that of the desired spheres, cutting the filaments so that they have lengths of less than two times the diameters thereof, rounding a bed of filaments of such lengths in frictional contact with super they are used to scrape portions thereof, said rounded continuation until the filaments are reduced to a length around the diameter thereof and are rounded in a spherical shape, and to remove such rounded particles from an upper portion of the bed.
