Abstract
Procedure for the preparation of an anisotropic and easily graphitizable coke by low temperature coking of a brown coal tar product, characterized in that it is subjected to a fraction of brown coal with a high boiling point and/or to a brown coal tar fish. At an alkali melt at about 280 to 300ºC for about 1/2 to 2 hours, the unattached product is separated by allowing the hot melt to settle, washed with water until neutral and dried, and dried. It then cokes at a low temperature in a manner known per se at 430 to 550ºC and 3 to 15 gauge atmospheres, and the obtained low-temperature coke is calcined in a known manner.
