Abstract
Method of manufacturing an electrode for electrochemical processes consisting of a support that conducts electric current and is resistant to corrosion under the conditions prevailing in the electrochemical cell, and of a coating, fixed on at least part of the surface of the support, likewise resistant to electrochemical attack and consisting essentially of at least one metal oxide of the platinum group, said process being characterized in that the stripped support is covered, in the places where the coating is to be fixed, with an adhesion layer comprising at least an oxidizable compound, because it is exposed to the support thus coated to an atmosphere that contains at least one metal compound of the platinum group to the gaseous state, this compound being capable of decomposing into a stable and solid oxide on contact with said adhesion layer on which it is preferentially fixed, and why it is subsequently subjected to a heat treatment to the support thus coated.
