Refinements in the preparation of electrodes, suitable for use in electrolytic procedures comprising having an electrode base of which at least the surface is a metal selected from the group of film-forming metals, consisting of titanium, tantalum, niobium, zirconium and alloys based on at least one of these metals, characterized in that they comprise applying on at least part of said surface a solution containing film-forming metal ions, depositing from said solution on said surface a layer consisting of in a film-forming metal oxide of the solution, and applying on at least part of said surface an electrolytic resistant electrically conductive layer containing a platinum group metal or a platinum group metal oxide.
