Abstract
A procedure for the preparation of a product with a high biuret content, characterized by heating to a temperature between 100º and 150ºC, for 10 minutes to 8 hours, a mixture of (A) a pyrolyzed urea reagent with a biuret content of up to 57% by weight and (B) a pyrolyzed material high in biuret and low in urea, the mixture being controlled so that its urea content does not exceed 20% by weight and heating in the presence of a liquid hydrocarbon as a vehicle that is refluxed at the heating temperature and is substantially non-solvent of urea and its self-condensation products by pyrolysis and inert against these substances and against ammonia, the relative proportions being included of the mixture and the hydrocarbon liquid vehicle between 5:95 and 60:40 by weight, respectively.
