Abstract

Mono - (2 - cyanoethyl) acetonimines are obtained by reacting acetonimines with acrylonitrile in a molar ratio of at least 1À5 : 1, the non-converted acetonimines being recovered from the reaction mixture. 5-Oxocapronitrile may be obtained by hydrolysis of one of the above acetonimines and the primary amine liberated, e.g. cyclohexylamine, may be recovered.
