Abstract

In a motor vehicle, locking mechanism for the tilt cab thereof comprises a main and safety catches 4, 5 each including a hooked lever 4A, 5A pivotally mounted in the chassis of the vehicle and cooperating with a member on the cab, the cooperating member for the lever of the catch 4 being a cam 20 which is rotatable, e.g. by a lever 23, from within the cab between positions in which the cam locks or unlocks the lever. There are means operable from outside the cab, when the cam is in the unlocking position, for pivoting the levers between a position in which the levers lie clear of the paths through which the cooperating members move during swinging of the cab to the open position thereof and a position in which the levers lie in the said path. As shown, the ends 4B, 5B of the levers are connected to actuating rods 10, 11, one or both rods 10 having a handle for manual actuation of the rods the rods may be interconnected by a lost-motion device. The lever 5, as also may be the lever 4, is biassed by a spring 26 towards the locking position.
