Abstract
Preparation process of catalysts and the like, and more particularly of a cracking catalyst containing faujasite in the form of small substantially spherical particles, characterized in that, the faujasite crystallizing in preconstituted bodies of silicon-alumina of substantially the same size and shape as the particles catalyst, comprises the steps of: spray drying an aqueous suspension of kaolin clay from which at least a substantial proportion is hydrated, thereby forming substantially spherical small particles, calcining said particles until all of the hydrated kaolin clay is dehydrated and the particles undergo the exothermic reaction characteristic of kaolin clay, incorporating the calcined particles into an alkali metal hydroxide solution to form a fluid suspension, and heating the suspension while stirring and holding enough water to maintain the s Fluid suspension until the silica is extracted from the particles and crystalline alkali metal faujasite is present in the particles, separate the particles from the mother liquor containing dissolved alkali metal silicate, and exchange the ions of the crystallized particles to reduce the content of alkali metal.
