Abstract

An infusion solution for intravenous nutrition comprises: 0.0130-0.0850 moles of L-phenyl alanine 0.0165-0.1050 " " L-leucine 0.0145-0.0900 " " L-methionine 0.0025-0.0200 " " L-tryptophan 0.0105-0.0700 " " L-isoleucine 0.0110-0.0700 " " L-lysine 0.0080-0.0550 " " L-threonine and 0.0135-0.0850 " " L-Valine per litre of solution in water, the pH of the solution being adjusted to 4.9 to 7.0 e.g. by the addition of hydrochloric acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid. The solution may also contain 0.0125-0.0800 moles of L-argenine and/or 0.0070-0.0450 moles of L-histidine per litre. The solution may have sterile, filtered nitrogen bubbled through it to remove oxygen and is then suitably bottled and autoclaved.
