Abstract

A digger bucket ejector mechanism comprises a flat faced element 31 pivotally securable at 33 by its upper edge to the top of a bucket 12 to extend transversely of the bucket, a second, substantially flat faced element 34 pivoted at 36 to the lower transverse edge of the element, means for moving the elements through the bucket, a second means operatively connected between the elements to cause the elements to have a straight relationship when at the front of the bucket and an angled relationship when at the rear of the bucket, and a sweeping edge 37 that is supported by the second element and caused to move parallel to the floor of the bucket as the element 34 moves to and fro through the bucket. Three preferred embodiments are described. In the - embodiment shown the first means involves a ram 17 for tilting the bucket relative to arms 13 on which it is supported and a lost motion linkage 59, 60 between the bucket 12, the arms 13 and the plate 31 of the ejector mechanism and the second means is a link 38 pivotally connected between the plates 31, 34. In the second embodiment the first means is a ram pivotally connected between the bucket and the plate 34 and the second means is the same as in the first embodiment. In the third embodiment, the first means is a ram pivotally connected between the bucket and the plate and the second means involves co-acting stops mounted on the backs of the plates 31, 34 to either side of the hinge between the plates 31, 34. In this embodiment the toe plate is hinged to the lower edge of the plate 34 and is provided with rollers engaging in guideways on the side walls of the bucket.
