Abstract

A cover or "ladder-cap" 20 made entirely of plastics injection moulded in one piece for the bottom of the lower bar 40 of a Venetian blind which bar may be of sheet steel and is of oval cross-section having a longitudinal split 49 in its upper side and with the lift cord 80 passing therethrough and with the ladder longitudinal elements 72, 73 passing around the front and rear walls 42, 43 of the bar comprises a base to underlie the bottom of the bar, front and rear walls 22, 23 extending upwardly from the base to tie along side the front and rear walls 42, 43 of the bar and studs 31, 32 extending upwardly from the base between the walls to project tightly through holes 51, 52 in the bottom of the bar. The ladder-cap also has ribs 25, 26 on the outer side and channels 27, 28 opening inwardly for the passage of ladder elements 72, 73 which have at their ends fittings 75 to be passed through holes 45, 47 in the bottom of the bar to anchor the ladder element 72, 73 in the bar. The lift cord 80 is passed down through hole 46 and up through hole 48 and knotted at its end, the cord on the outside of the bar being accommodated in a hollow depression in the bottom of the cap into which the channels 27. and 28 run as indicated by the broken line in Fig. 4. The holes 51, 52 in the bar through which the studs 31, 32 are secured are formed with two diametrically opposite flat faces and with jagged edges b, Fig. 10 to ensure tightness of the studs in the hole and prevention of the studs being withdrawn.
