Abstract

A herbicidal preparation comprises a suitable carrier and as active ingredient a compound of the formula:- in which each R is selected from H, C 1 -C 4 alkyl, C 2 -C 4 alkenyl or C 2 -C 4 chloroalkenyl, R 1 is C 1 -C 4 alkyl, R 2 is alkyl or alkenyl each having up to 6 carbon atoms, R 3 is C 1 -C 5 alkyl which is linked with the P atom directly or through an O or S atom, X is O or S and Hal is a halogen atom. The preparation may also include a fertiliser, a further pesticidal agent, or a known herbicide, e.g. 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid, 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxybutyric acid and/or [alpha]-[2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxy]-propionic acid, and growth hormones. The phosphorus-containing active ingredient is also stated to have a growth regulating effect.
