Abstract

The closure member of a plug cock comprises a cylindrical segment 7 urged radially outwardly from actuating spindle 5 by a spring 8. Stops 9, 10 limit movement of member 7 and its sharp edges 71 are arranged to scrape and clean the interior surface of the casing 12. A groove 11 extending between points X and Y in the casing provides a metered flow during the initial opening of the valve.
