Abstract
In a fork lift truck having traction batteries 16 and a tailweight 17 carried by a common support frame 19 on which they can be removed together from the truck in a vertical direction, the tailweight 17 is detachably mounted on the support frame 19, and the batteries 16 are readily removable from the truck in a vertical direction independently of the support frame 19 and the tailweight 17. The support frame 19 has horizontal and vertical flanges 22, 23 for supporting and locating the batteries 16, and downwardly extending flanges 25 for engaging the sides of the truck body 10 have extensions 27 fitting between blocks 26 on the body. As shown the tailweight 17 is attached by bolts 131 to the support frame 19 but it may only rest thereon. Lifting eyes 34 are provided in the support frame 19 for lifting the frame together with the batteries and tailweight, and a casing for the batteries 17 has sockets whereby the batteries can be lifted alone.
