Abstract
Solid lubricant comprising one or more of disulphides of molybdenum, tungsten or niobium is electrolytically deposited from an aqueous solution containing one or more thio-molybdates, thio-tungstates or thio-niobates, which may be introduced into the bath as such or may be formed in situ. Surfaces coated may be of steel or titanium alloy, and the current used may be D. C. or rectified A. C, the workpiece forming the cathode.
