The optimum conditions for dyeing acrylic fibres with cationic, anionic and disperse dyes are obtained by a) plotting upon a graph the exhaustion curves for a specific dye at different constant temperatures within the initial dyeing temperature to the boiling point of the dye bath in curves (a) in fig. 3, b) plotting upon. the same graph a line representing the rate of exhaustion with time for a desired uniform rate of exhaustion in line X in fig. 3, c) determining the points of intersection of said line with the curves obtained in a) and d) plotting a second graph the said points of intersection as a function of temperature against dyeing time see fig. 4 ,the dyeing then being effected according to the curve. Minters of dyes may be employed the above being carried out in each core and the mean result obtained. Conventional amounts of rotating agents are reduced.
