Abstract
An axial-flow fan comprises a wheel in which each blade 1 is pivotable about a radial pivot 13, the pivotal movement being limited by stops defining two reversible working positions of the blades, a mechanizm for reversing the blades to reverse the direction of gas flow, the mechanizm comprising for each blade a resilient element engaging the pivot in one of two interchangeable eccentric positions corresponding with the working positions, a central port 3 being connected to the resilient elements for reversal of the eccentric positions of the resilient elements. In the embodiment shown, each resilient element comprises a pin 7 resiliently pressed by a helical spring 6 against a tumbler 10 on the pivot 13. When the part 3, which is in the form of a disc, is turned manually to move each pin 7 from engagement with one arm 11 of the tumbler 10 to engagement with the opposite arm 12, or vice versa, each blade is thereby turned so that the direction of flow imparted to the air is reversed. In another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the springs 6 and pins 7 are replaced by leaf springs (16).
