Abstract
3,3-Dialkyldiazacyclopropanes are prepared by the reaction of ammonia, chlorine and a ketone of formula in which R 1 and R, are C 1 -C 4 alkyl groups the sum of carbon atoms in R 1 and R 2 being from 2 to 5, the reaction being carried out in the presence of an amount of an ammonium salt of an inorganic acid sufficient to maintain a pH value of 10-13 during the reaction, and using a hypochlorite as the chlorine source.
