Abstract
To prevent self-oscillation in a multi-cavity klystron, arising from feedback via the drift tube connecting adjacent similar cavities, one or both ends of the drift tube are provided with not more than two axial slots, a slot at one end of the tube being circumferentially displaced through 90 degrees with respect to a slot at the other end. Two slots at one end of the tube may be either diametrically opposite, or displaced through 90 degrees. The opposed ends of two drift tubes terminating in a common cavity may each have one or two slots, the slot pattern in one being displaced through 90 degrees with respect to that in the other.
