Abstract

A threshing cylinder, for a drum and concave type of threshing machine wherein the drum includes a plurality of beaterbars 3 evenly distributed around a rotatable shaft 1, is characterized in that the spaces between the beacer-bars are filled by sheets 4 of elastically yieldable material convexly curved so as to be co-axial with the drum, the sheets being supported by a rigid support-member 5 spaced radially-inwardly from the elastic sheets and connected to them by flexible but inextensible radial connections 6, the circumferential spacing of which is approximately equal to the radial spacing between the support-member and the elastic sheets. The support-member comprises a cylindrical shell of sheet-metal or hard plastics secured to the beater-bars by clamping plates 10, 11 which also clamp the edges of sheets 4. The connections 6 form the side-walls of a square honeycomb of inextensible material such as rubberized cord-fabric, bonded both to the support member and the sheets 4.
