Abstract

In a nuclear reactor prestressed concrete pressure vessel, radial and longitudinal stresses are applied by external circumferential bands and internal tendons, respectively. Additional radial tendons are embedded in the concrete. These may be isolated within the concrete or attached at one end to the inner sealing envelope of the pressure vessel. The envelope is secured to the pressure vessel inner surface by radial ties.
