Abstract
In a two-stage chlorine liquefaction process feed gas is partially dried, e.g. by contact with sulphuric acid to reduce its water content to about 50 mol. p.p.m. then partially liquefied in a first stage condenser, uncondensed gas is further dried, e.g. by passage through a zeolite bed to reduce its water content to about 20 mol. p.p.m. and is then liquefied in a second stage condenser at the same pressure but at a lower temperature than the first condensation. The feed gas may be at atmospheric pressure or compressed to say nine atmospheres.
