Abstract

Leather is dyed using aqueous pigments preparations containing, as protective colloid, a water-soluble polymer or copolymer acrylamide and/or methacrylamide. The pigment finishes preferably contain 1 to 10% by weight of the polymer and may contain conventional assistants. The pigments used are CI pigment black 1, chromium yellow (lead chromate) and copper phthalocyanine. The pigment finishes are brushed or sprayed onto the leather and a final treatment with formaldehyde solution is applied.
