Abstract
A thermosealable film comprises a support olefin polymer film bearing an intermediate layer of a polymerized or non-polymerized amino compound having the general formula NH 2 -CHR-CH 2 -NH) n -H in which R is a a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and n is an integer from 1 to 116, and a second layer of a mixture of an epoxy resin with a vinyl or vinylidene polymer or copolymer and a polyalkylacrylate, a polyalkylmethacrylate, a copolymer of different alkyl methacrylates with each other or a copolymer of an alkyl methacrylate with an alkylacrylate containing at least 70% of alkyl methacrylate, the alkyl groups of the esters in the polymers of copolymers having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms. The support may be of polypropylene essentially consisting of isotactic macromolecules. The coated film may be produced by applying the coatings to a stretched or unstretched film. The copolymer may be of an alkyl methacrylate (85-95% by wt) and an alkylacrylate. The intermediate coating layer may consist of polyethyleneimine, polypropylenimine, ethylene diamine, diethylene triamine or tetraethylene pentamine. The epoxy resin of the second layer may consist of a polycondensate of epichlorohydrin with a phenol. In the second layer, as the vinyl or vinylidene polymers, a polymer of vinyl chloride or vinyl acetate or a copolymer of vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride-vinylidene chloride or vinylidene chloride-acrylonitrile may be used. The application of the intermediate or both coatings may be carried out before one or both stretchings of the film in order to render the coating very thin. The coating can be applied to one or both sides of the film from a solution or dispersion in water or organic solvent by spreading or immersion.
