A process for the production of a stream of high aromatic hydrocarbon content suitable for use as a feedstock for carbon black, comprising the steps of cracking a stream of naphtha in a naphtha cracking zone; separating fuel oil from the effluent from said naphtha cracking zone and passing the remaining part to a separation zone, separating a stream of C4 hydrocarbons from said separation zone and passing said hydrocarbon stream to a butadiene recovery zone; separating a butadiene stream from said butadiene recovery zone; separating a stream of butene and isobutylene from said butadiene recovery stream and passing said stream of butene and isobutylene to an isobutylene separation zone; separating a stream with butene content from said isobutylene separation zone and passing said butene content stream to a butene deaerating zone; in said de-oiling zone separating a fraction of oil and passing the rest to a dehydrogenation zone; passing the effluent from said dehydrogenation zone to said separation zone; separating a stream of gasoline from said separation zone; separating from said isobutylene separation unit a stream comprising separate isobutylene in said unit; passing said gasoline stream, said stream comprising isobutylene and said oil fraction to a hydrogenation treatment zone; passing hydrogen to said hydrogenation treatment zone and subjecting said gasoline stream to said hydrogenation treatment, said stream comprising isobutylene and the oil fractions thereof; passing the effluent from said hydrogenation treatment zone to an aromatics extraction zone; passing aromatics from said aromatics extraction zone to a benzene separation zone; separating benzene from said benzene separation zone; separating a stream of heavy aromatics from said benzene separation zone; mixing said fuel oil and said stream of heavy aromatics to produce a stream of high aromatics content; and recycle olefin paraffins from said aromatic extraction zone to said naphtha cracking zone.
