Abstract

A neutron and gamma-ray shield material is formed of lead spheres held in a matrix of a coldpolymerized organic compound which contains a dispersion of a substance having a large neutron capture cross-section, for example, boric acid. Cobalt octoate is used as the setting accelerator. The spheres take the required shape and the organic compound is poured in to fill the interstices prior to setting.
