Abstract
A sheathed nuclear fuel element centred in a surrounding casing is made from a onepiece extrusion comprising the sheath, the centring means and the surrounding casing. The fuel element may also have integrally extruded fins 3. Studs 6 and rings 7, 8 are attached to form end supports, the weight of the uranium fuel 1 being carried on a boss 13 of the lower ring. All parts are preferably made of a magnesium-zirconium alloy, 0À45% b./w. zirconium.
