Abstract

In an aerial system similar to that disclosed in the parent Specification a 180 degree phase shifter PS, Fig. 3, may be brought into circuit between the directional coupler K and the elements H by opening a bridging switch SW, whereby when the system is supplied at T2 the elements H radiate in phase with the element He, producing a resultant pattern as shown at P, Fig. 2. When the system is supplied at T1, with the switch SW open, the element He radiates in phase opposition with the elements H, causing a minor degradation of the highly directional pattern L (with side lobes S). When the switch SW is closed, the system is equivalent to the parent system and the same radiation patterns are produced (Fig. 1, not shown).
