Abstract

The isolating switch, provided preferably for switching medium voltages, has a fixed contact (1) and a moving contact (3) which can rotate about an axis (2). This switch is intended to ensure a reliable current path at all times between its two current connections with a comparatively small number of junctions. This is achieved by the fixed contact (1) being designed such that it is cambered and has contact surfaces aligned in the direction of rotation of the moving contact (3), and by the moving contact (3) containing two isolating blades (12, 13), arranged parallel to one another and subjected to a retaining force by an elastic clamping element (14). In each case one of two bushings is let into the mutually facing sides of the isolating blades (12, 13), which bushings are used for mounting on and for making contact with a fixed spherical contact (5) through the centre of which passes the axis (2). This arrangement allows the two isolating blades (12, 13) to swivel in all directions and thus provides an optimum current path when the isolating switch is switched on.
