Abstract

A reinforced roof support is formed from brick and concrete and provided with a plurality of brick shells 1 which have a U-shaped cross-section and are aligned so as to form a longitudinal hollow cavity, longitudinal grooves 6 being formed in the opposite inner surfaces of the lateral walls of said brick shells 1 in the vicinity of the base 5, wherein the longitudinal cavity accommodates the concrete 3 and a steel lattice support 2 which comprises an upper longitudinal bar 10 and two lower longitudinal bars 9 which extend parallel to the upper longitudinal bar 10 and parallel to each other, said steel lattice support 2 also comprising diagonal struts 8 which join the upper longitudinal bar 10 to the lower longitudinal bars 9 by welding means. The invention is characterised in that outwardly protruding, rust-resistant spacer members 14 are disposed at predetermined intervals from one another along each lower longitudinal bar 9 of the lattice support 2, the free ends of said spacer members 14 engaging in the associated longitudinal grooves 6 formed in the brick shells 1 with a space being left between the lower longitudinal bars 9 and the brick shells 1.
