In a temperature control circuit, e.g. for a domestic appliance such as an iron, consisting of a bridge circuit (1) the branches of which are formed by a first fixed resistor (R1), a second fixed resistor (R2), a variable temperature-setting resistor (Rv) and a temperature probe (S), a differential amplifier (4) electrically connected across a diagonal of said bridge (1), and an element (5) for cutting in or cutting out an electrical load (6) connected to the electricity supply mains, the probe (S) consists of a metal filament (3) disposed under vacuum inside a protective casing (2) which is non-oxidisable and physically unalterable under the action of heat. The probe (S) may be a conventional tungsten lamp.
