Optimized brush straightener styling appliance

The present invention concerns a hairdressing appliance for straightening hair, more commonly called an iron. The invention relates in a very particular way to an iron-type hairdressing appliance comprising a brush that allows a first mechanical treatment by brushing the lock of hair before it passes between two treatment surfaces configured to pinch said lock of hair. and carry out a second mechanical and thermal treatment by compression, stretching and heating of this lock of hair.

State of the art

An iron-type hairdressing appliance traditionally comprises two arms articulated to each other by means of a pivot joint or a hinge, so that they form a clamp or jaw that allows passing from an open position for placing a lock of hair between the two arms, to a closed position for clamping this lock of hair. Each arm comprises an internal face provided with a treatment surface. When the clip is in the closed position, the two treatment surfaces, arranged opposite each other, allow pinching and slight compression of the lock of hair. One of the treatment surfaces is preferably provided with heating means, or even both treatment surfaces. During the straightening operation, the user places the iron close to the scalp, inserts the lock of hair between the two treatment surfaces, pinches the lock of hair, and then moves the iron with the tweezers closed to the tip of the hair, which allows the hair to be mechanically treated by pressure and stretching and, together, thermally treated by heating.

Plates are known which comprise a comb arranged upstream from the treatment surfaces, such plates making it possible to obtain a straight and non-bulky insulation. Plates are also known comprising two brushes arranged respectively upstream and downstream of the plates, such plates making it possible to conserve volume and have a less straight smoothing than with a comb. However, brushing the hair after heating between the two treatment surfaces has the effect of losing softness and fluidity. To mitigate this drawback, certain plates have a single brush located upstream of the treatment surfaces, on one or the other of the gripper arms, the direction of movement of the plate being imposed by the position of the brush. Documents WO 2014/064660, WO 2013/184582 and WO 2016/079407 also disclose prior art hairdressing appliances.

Summary of the invention

The present invention aims to optimize the performance of an iron of this type provided with at least one brush arranged upstream of the treatment surfaces, with the first objective of increasing the longevity of the brush to avoid its replacement. Another objective is to obtain a smoother, silkier and more natural straightening of the hair, which retains more volume.

To this end, the invention concerns a hairdressing appliance for straightening the hair according to claim 1, more commonly called a hair straightener. The hairdressing apparatus comprises a first arm comprising a first treatment surface and a second arm comprising a second treatment surface. The first arm and the second arm are articulated with respect to each other by means of a pivot connection or a hinge, so that they are movable with respect to each other between an open position for inserting a lock of hair and a closed position. pinching a lock of hair. Detailed description

In what follows in the description, the term straightener will be used to define the hairdressing apparatus for straightening the hair, object of the invention.

In figure 1, the iron 1 constitutes a portable treatment unit that comprises two arms 2, 3 articulated to each other by means of a pivot joint 13, which makes it possible to form a clamp or jaw that can be opened to allow the introduction of a lock of hair, and closed to allow pinching of the lock of hair. These two arms 2, 3 each comprise a proximal part 2a, 3a that allows the iron 1 to be grasped with one hand so that it can be easily manipulated during the hair styling operation.

As illustrated in Figures 1 to 3, the two arms 2, 3 each comprise a treatment surface 4, 5, on their internal faces, at the level of their distal parts 2b, 3b. Together, these treatment surfaces 4, 5 allow a lock of hair to be pinched during closure of the clip. According to the embodiment of figure 1, the treatment surfaces 4, 5 each comprise a plate 14, 15 and heating means 6 of this plate 14, 15, especially illustrated in figure 4 for the first arm 2 and similar in the second arm 3, preferably. As illustrated in Figures 1 to 4, the plate 1 comprises a brush 7 extending longitudinally in the vicinity of the edge 10 of the plate 14. The brush 7 and the lateral edge both extend parallel to an extension direction DE of the first arm. 2. The brush 7 is located on the upstream side of the plate 14, the iron 1 being displaced in the direction of the arrow 17 during the combing operation, from the root to the tip of the hair, which allows a brushing the hair before straightening it. By limiting itself to brushing the hair prior to its passage between the two treatment surfaces 4, 5, a smoother and silkier straightening of the hair is achieved than with an iron 1 comprising two brushes similar to brush 7 and placed on the proximity of the two respective arms 10, 18 of the first plate 14, or of the two edges 19, 20 of the second plate 15. This also allows a stylisation of the tips during smoothing to obtain an effect of collected tips or, for on the contrary, an outward-pointing effect, which is not possible with two brushes. However, the latter variant with two brushes is still possible, without going beyond the scope of the invention, although less efficient.

In Figure 4, the edge 10 comprises a lateral edge 21 that defines with the edge 10 a rounded portion 22. The brush 7 comprises tufts of hairs 8 illustrated in the form of cords in Figures 4 and 5. Each tuft of hairs 8 comprises between forty and sixty hairs 9, preferably fifty hairs 9, one of which is outlined in figure 6. These hairs 9 are preferably bristle hairs. It can also be considered nylon bristles of type PA66. Each hair 9 comprises a terminal portion 9a and a base portion 9b, said portions 9a, 9b being delimited from each other by the position of the lateral edge 21 on the first plate 14, as illustrated in figure 6. The terminal portion 9a of each hair 9 defines a length L1 with respect to the plane P in which the lateral edge 21 of the plate 14 is located, this terminal portion 9a of the hair 9 penetrating the two hairs during combing prior to the straightening operation. Each hair 9 also has a visible length L2 and a diameter d1. The hairs 9 work essentially flexed during brushing. In other words, the bristles 9 are therefore substantially flexible, while nevertheless having sufficient rigidity so that they can be kept straight.

To ensure a more natural straightening and to preserve more volume of the straightened hair, and to ensure an excellent bending behavior of the hairs 9 throughout the service life of the straightener 1, the length L1 is between 2 mm and 6 mm, an optimal result being achieved with a length L1 equal to 4 mm.

In order to further optimize the straightening and to increase the service life of the bristles 9 of the brush 7, the diameter d1 and the visible length L2 of the bristles 9 are chosen such that the ratio r between the diameter d1 and the visible length L2 (r = d1 / L2) is between 0.02 and 0.12, preferably between 0.03 and 0.08. The diameter d1 is preferably between 0.2 mm and 0.4 mm and the visible length L2 is preferably between 1 mm and 5 mm, preferably equal to 3 mm.

The tufts of hairs 8 of the brush 7 are spaced from the edge 10 of the plate 14, a distance d3 that is between 3 mm and 10 mm, this distance d3 being preferably equal to 4.5 mm, which makes it possible to space the operation of brushing of the straightening operation, so that the hairs conveniently extend between the two plates 14, 15 during said straightening.

On the other hand, the hair strands 8 of the brush 7 are spaced a distance d2 between each other that is between 1 mm and 5 mm, preferably equal to 3 mm, which allows a convenient introduction of the hairs 9 into the hair strand during brushing prior to straightening.

As illustrated in Figures 1 and 4, the iron 1 comprises a support bar 11 extending longitudinally in the extension direction DE in the first arm 2, the hair tufts 8 being mounted on this support bar 11. Furthermore , between the first arm 2 and the support bar 11 are arranged removable fixing means 12. These removable fixing means 12 are constituted, for example, by a T-slot arranged on the lower face of the supporting bar 11, and by a T-shaped protrusion complementary to said groove, arranged in the first arm 2, so as to ensure a sliding mounting of the support bar 11 on the arm 2. Other removable fixing means 12 are possible, without leaving the frame of the invention.

For example, treatment surfaces 4, 5 provided with plates 14,15 having a slightly curved or slightly wavy shape can be considered.
