Procedure and installation for the production of combustible gases directly interchangeable with natural gasses from liquid and gaseous oil hydrocarbons, by thermal reaction of said hydrocarbons on a contact mass of weak or no catalytic activity, at a temperature close to 850 -900º C, with a view to producing a base gas with appreciably close graduations in unsaturated hydrocarbons and in hydrogen, followed by a transformation treatment of the said base gas in the presence of a catalytic mass at a temperature of 200-300º C to cause autohydrogenation of the unsaturated hydrocarbons contained in the base gas, said process being characterized in that a temperature not exceeding approximately 250-300º C is maintained at the outlet of the catalytic mass in the transformation treatment phase of the base gas, eliminating the calories detached in the course of the exot reaction autohidrogenaciºn rmica of gas based on the catalytic mass by recycling a portion of the gas-product end precooled towards said catalytic mass.
