Improvements introduced in the object of the main patent no. 259,997, granted on september 15, 1960, by "process for obtaining polyacrylonitrile solutions, fiber formers", characterized by comprising the expulsion of the polyacrylonitrile solution in a solvent mixture of dimethylformamide and an aromatic hydrocarbon, inside a coagulating liquid containing an aromatic hydrocarbon to form filaments, and a coagulant containing a non-solvent mixture of dimethylformamide and an aromatic hydrocarbon; putting the non-solvent mixture in contact with sufficient water to cause the mixture to be divided into an aqueous phase containing dimethylformamide and not more than 1% of the aromatic hydrocarbon, and a non-aqueous phase containing aromatic hydrocarbon, and upon obtaining the dimethylformamide of the aqueous phase.
