Abstract

A lightning arrester device, comprising a closed box, at least one closed insulating tube arranged inside said box in spaced relation to it, and a column of lightning arresters connected in series in said insulating tube or in each one of them, some of the lightning rod elements of said or each insulating tube consisting of a material that releases large amounts of an ionized gas when subjected to a passage through it of a fault current and said or each of said tubes having insulating an opening to release said ionized gas to go outside and penetrate said box to thereby establish an external arc path to said tube or tubes to transfer said fault current away from said gas-emitting elements.
