Abstract

A liquid additive composition with integrated action, said composition characterized in that it comprises i) a cleaning/stain removing component consisting of: a) at least one nonionic surfactant; b) at least one performance enhancer; and c) at least one anionic surfactant; ii) a softening component selected from quaternary silicones, amino-modified silicones and guar gum and mixtures thereof; iii) a sensory component comprising fragrance microcapsules and perfuming oil; iv) an acid with a pK less than 6 as a pH regulator and buffer, preferably citric acid, and v) water; wherein the pH of the composition is less than 6; and wherein the cleaning/stain removing component (i) consists of: a) a nonionic surfactant which is a C10-C16 ethoxylated alcohol in an amount greater than 0.1% by weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition with integrated action; b) at least one performance enhancer selected from an alkoxylated polyethyleneimine or an alkyl-(hydroxyethyl)dimethyl ammonium chloride and mixtures thereof in an amount greater than 0.1% by weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition with integrated action; c) an anionic surfactant which is sodium laureth sulfate (LES) in an amount greater than 0.1% by weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition with integrated action; in which the maximum total amount of the active components a) b) and c) is equal to 15% by weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition with integrated action.

The present invention relates to an additive composition with integrated action.

The present invention falls within the technical field of additives for washing machines, that is, products that are substantially laundry aids that integrate the use of detergents, with a specific function, different from the intrinsic cleaning action of detergents: examples of These additives are stain remover additives, softeners, color additives, bleaches, anti-lime additives, antibacterial agents, bleaches, perfuming agents, etc., etc.

Additive products to be used in addition to detergent and which can perform various functions are, in fact, known and widely marketed.

These additive products are added according to their characteristics and function at different times / stages of the laundry process in a washing machine.

Certain additives are added in the prewash or wash phase, as is the case, for example, of stain remover additives, bleaches, anti-lime additives, antibacterial agents, while other additive products are added in the final wash phase, i.e. , in the last rinse: this is the case with fabric softeners and, in some cases, also with antibacterial agents.

As indicated above, the different addition time of the additive product depends on its physicochemical characteristics and its function: in fact, it is clear that a softener must be added in the final washing stage to avoid losing or minimizing the desired softening and perfuming effect. due to the subsequent rinsing phases of the laundry. More specifically, a softener works in the following way: the molecules of the softener product bind to the fibers of the fabrics, which creates a thin film and the final effect is a greater softness of the garment, combined with its possible fragrance and, again, thanks to the composition of the softening product and the reduction of friction between the fibers, said additive also facilitates the ironing of the garment.

Using the fabric softener also reduces static electricity from freshly laundered items.

Therefore, softeners are substantially laundry aids that integrate the use of detergents. Historically, the composition of fabric softeners comprises the use of quaternary ammonium compounds with one or more fatty chains. Examples of softening additives used in the past are DSDMAC (distearyldimethylammonium chloride), DHTDMAC (dihydrogenated tallow dimethylammonium chloride). Today, the composition of all the main softeners on the market comprises esterquat (definition according to inci: distearoylethylhydroxyethylammonium methosulfate), as an essential component: these are positively charged softener molecules, obtained by the esterification of ethoxylated quaternized amines with fatty acids of long chain. The other components are almost always additives, fragrances, thickeners or pearlescent agents, colorants, etc. It is also evident that the time of use of a stain remover additive, again in reference to a laundry aid that integrates the use of detergents, is substantially different from that of the softener additive described above.

In fact, a stain remover additive is generally used by applying it directly to the garment and specifically on the stain to be treated, before washing, or it is generally added as an additive in the prewash or wash phase in the washing cycle of the washing machine.

The composition of liquid stain removal additives is generally based on an appropriate mixture of non-ionic, anionic, amphoteric surfactants, amine oxide, enzymes or hydrogen peroxide or other oxidizing agents, such as, for example, sodium hypochlorite (the latter alone to be used on white garments).

To facilitate the end user's task, several products called "multifunctional" or with integrated action have recently been introduced on the market, that is, products characterized by simultaneously exercising two or more functions among those listed above: color additives and anti-lime , stain and bleach removers, optical brighteners and softening agents, etc., can in fact be found on the market, in addition to the "obvious" softening and perfuming additive.

The production of these "multifunctional" compositions or additives is not as easy and trivial as it might appear to the naked eye of a user. Experts in the field, in fact, are aware of the difficulties encountered in the production of these additives since the ingredients used for one function frequently conflict with those that perform other functions and their combination can lead to partial / total inactivity. of the final product in one or more of the desired functions.

It is also evident that the production of an effective "multifunctional" additive has an additional fundamental basic requirement: the physicochemical characteristics of the various components must not only be such as to allow the stability and performance of the final additive for each desired function, but the functions of the "multifunctional" additive must also be simultaneous, that is, they must be functions that are performed in the same washing phase (s). The multifunctional additives currently on the market are, in fact, specifically additives that combine two or more additive functions that, in the past, were added individually and separately in the same stage of washing the garment.

Multifunctional additives that combine the softening action to be exerted in the last rinsing phase with the stain remover or bleaching action (for example), which, by their very nature, are exerted in different phases of the wash cycle (pre-wash or real wash), They are not known or marketed: these additives with stain removal or bleaching action are, in fact, ineffective if added in the final rinse phase. Furthermore, based on the compositional characteristics of the softening additives which, as indicated above, have esterquat as a basic ingredient, its coexistence with the stain remover / cleaning components of the stain removal additives that would completely deactivate the softening action of the softening additive in based on esterquat, it seems impossible.

WO2016 / 032995 A1 discloses a multi-stage process for treating a fabric, including a washing step and a rinsing step in which the fabric is brought into contact with a softening composition.

WO2010 / 084480 A2 discloses a consumer product comprising a plurality of low permeability microcapsule particles

WO2010 / 267601 A1 is directed to an aqueous laundry detergent comprising an organosiloxane polymer.

The applicant has now surprisingly found a liquid additive composition with integrated action, which overcomes the drawbacks of the state of the art.

Therefore, the main objective of the present invention is to find a liquid additive composition with integrated action, which can simultaneously exert a softening and cleaning / stain removal function.

A further objective of the present invention is also to find a liquid additive composition with integrated action, which can simultaneously exert a softening and cleaning / stain removal function when it is added in the final rinse phase of the washing cycle of a washing machine, that is, when added to fabric softener compartment / space in washing machine.

Therefore, the object of the present invention refers to a liquid additive composition with integrated action, said composition is characterized in that it comprises:

i) a cleaning / stain remover component consisting of:

a) at least one nonionic surfactant;

b) at least one performance enhancer; Y

c) at least one anionic surfactant;

ii) a softening component selected from quaternary silicones, amino-modified silicones and guar gum and mixtures thereof;

iii) a sensory component comprising fragrance microcapsules and perfume oil;

iv) an acid with a pK of less than 6 as a pH regulator and buffer, preferably citric acid, and

v) water;

wherein the pH of the composition is less than 6; and in which the cleaning / stain remover component (i) consists of: a) a non-ionic surfactant that is a C ¹⁰ -C ¹⁶ ethoxylated alcohol in an amount greater than 0.1% by weight with respect to the total weight of the composition additive with integrated action, preferably in an amount ranging from 0.1% to 5% by weight;

b) at least one performance enhancer selected from an alkoxylated polyethyleneimine or an alkyl- (hydroxyethyl) dimethyl ammonium chloride and mixtures thereof in an amount greater than 0.1% by weight relative to the total weight of the additive composition with integrated action;

c) an anionic surfactant which is sodium laureth sulfate (SLE) in an amount greater than 0.1% by weight relative to the total weight of the additive composition with integrated action, preferably in an amount ranging from 0.1% to 5% by weight;

in which the maximum total amount of the active components a) b) and c) is equal to 15% by weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition with integrated action.

Even more preferably, the cleaning / stain remover component, as a performance enhancer, consists of a mixture of alkoxylated polyethyleneimine and alkyl (hydroxyethyl) dimethyl ammonium chloride in an amount ranging from 0.1% to 5% by weight, even more preferably in an amount equal to 2.5% by weight.

The cleaning / stain remover component preferably comprises an anionic surfactant in an amount ranging from 0.1% to 5% by weight and a nonionic surfactant in an amount ranging from 0.1% to 5% by weight.

The performance enhancer ensures a cleaning / stain removal action with a reduced percentage of active ingredients in the composition, which maximizes the effectiveness of these surfactants.

The effective weight ratio between the performance enhancer b) and the anionic surfactant c) is preferably greater than 1: 1 and preferably equal to 5: 1.

The cleaning / stain remover component (i) of the additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention may consist of a mixture of an alkoxylated polyethyleneimine and an aqueous solution of C ¹² and C ¹⁴ alkyl (hydroxyethyl) dimethyl chloride.

The softening component (ii) of the liquid additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention, selected from quaternary silicones, amino-modified silicones and guar gum and mixtures thereof, can consist of a mixture of at least two selected components of quaternary silicones, amino-modified silicones, and guar gum, and is preferably a mixture of dicuaternary polydimethyldisiloxane, amino-modified polysiloxane, and cationic-modified guar gum, wherein each of said components forming the softening component is present in an amount that it ranges from 0.1 to 10% by weight with respect to the total weight of the additive composition with integrated action.

Esterquat, which, as indicated above, is the base component of all the main softeners on the market, is completely absent.

The sensory component (iii) of the liquid additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention preferably consists of a suspension of fragrance microcapsules and perfuming oil. A part of the sensory component is present in encapsulated form to allow a longer duration of the fragrance: the fragrance capsules, in fact, adhere to the fabric and the perfume lasts over time on the dry garment.

To stabilize the sensory component, the composition according to the present invention may also comprise a cellulose derivative or a cationic acrylamide-based polymer and mixtures thereof, preferably a mixture of a cellulose derivative such as carboxymethylcellulose or methylhydroxypropylcellulose, even with more preferred methylhydroxypropylcellulose as a viscosifying agent and an acrylamide polymer as a suspending agent, in which both the viscosifying agent and the suspending agent are present in an amount greater than 0.1% by weight relative to the total weight of the additive composition with integrated action. The sensory component (iii) of the liquid additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention may also comprise a colorant and an opacifying agent that affect the aesthetic characteristics of the final product and are included in said sensory component, comprising all the so-called sensory ingredients.

The presence as component (iv) of an acid with a pK lower than 6, as a pH regulator and buffer, preferably citric acid, makes it possible to adjust the pH of the additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention: the pH is, in fact, less than 6, preferably less than 5, even more preferably less than 3.5.

The liquid additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention may also comprise, as minor components, colorants and / or preservatives and / or disinfecting and / or antifoaming agents and / or stabilizers and / or enzymes, selected from those commonly known by the experts in the field.

The liquid additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention preferably comprises:

(i) the cleaning / stain remover component, in an amount ranging from 0.4 to 10% by weight, preferably from 3 to 7% by weight relative to the total weight of the additive composition;

ii) the softening component, in an amount ranging from 0.3 to 10% by weight, preferably from 0.6 to 0.8% by weight relative to the total weight of the additive composition;

iii) the sensory component comprises fragrance microcapsules, in an amount ranging from 0.1 to 5% by weight, preferably ranging from 0.5 to 1% by weight relative to the total weight of the additive composition and the perfuming oil , in an amount ranging from 0.1 to 10% by weight, and preferably from 0.5 to 3% by weight with respect to the total weight of the composition;

iv) an acid with a pK less than 6 as a pH regulator and buffer, in an amount ranging from 0.01% to 0.5% by weight, preferably ranging from 0.25% to 0.45% by weight relative to the total weight of the additive composition; v) Complement of water up to 100.

A preferred integrated action liquid additive composition according to the present invention, comprising:

i) the cleaning / stain remover component consisting of:

a) a C ¹⁰ -C ¹⁶ ethoxylated alcohol in an amount equal to 1% by weight, as a non-ionic surfactant;

b) a mixture of alkoxylated polyethyleneimine in an amount equal to 1.5% by weight and an aqueous solution of C ¹² and C ¹⁴ alkyl (hydroxyethyl) dimethyl chlorides in an amount equal to 1% by weight, as a performance enhancer; c) sodium laureth sulfate in an amount equal to 0.5% by weight, as anionic surfactant;

ii) the softening component consists of a mixture of dicquaternary polydimethyldisiloxane in an amount equal to 0.35% by weight, amino modified polysiloxane in an amount equal to 0.4% by weight and modified cationic guar gum in an amount equal to 0 , 15% by weight;

iii) a sensory component comprising perfuming oil in an amount equal to 0.45% by weight, fragrance microcapsules in an amount equal to 0.12% by weight, colorant in an amount equal to 0.001% by weight and an opacifying agent , preferably an acrylic / styrene copolymer, in an amount equal to 0.1% by weight;

iv) citric acid in an amount equal to 0.35% by weight, as a pH regulator;

v) water, complement up to 100,

vi) polydimethylsiloxane in an amount equal to 0.01% by weight, as an antifoam agent; a preservative agent, preferably a mixture of 5-chloro-2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one, 2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one such as, for example, Preventol D7 in an amount equal to 0, 05% by weight, as a preservative, antimicrobial agent, a mixture of methylhydroxypropylcellulose in an amount equal to 0.3% by weight as a viscosifying agent and an acrylamide-based polymer in an amount ranging from 0.2 to 0.8% in weight, as a suspending agent;

and with a pH equal to approximately 3.0.

The liquid additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention described above has the considerable and surprising advantage of combining both the softening / perfuming function and the cleaning / stain remover function in a single additive, a combination that was previously considered impossible, not only for reasons of incompatibility of ingredients that perform individual functions in known "individual" additives, but also because of the operating times in the wash cycle which are completely different for the various additives.

A cleaning / stain remover additive according to the known art, in fact, necessarily requires wash times, temperatures and dilutions that are completely different from the times, temperatures and dilutions required by a softening / perfuming additive that is added in the last rinse of the entire wash cycle.

In fact, it is completely unexpected and surprising that the additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention, when added in the last rinse, is also capable of exerting its specific cleaning / stain removal function, that is, capable of effectively guaranteeing a cleaning action under said conditions of time, temperature and dilution, simultaneously without canceling the softening / perfuming action.

An additional object of the present invention refers to the use of said liquid additive composition with integrated action, as a softening, perfuming, cleaning and / or stain remover agent, by adding the additive composition in the final stage of washing one or more garments. and, more specifically, by addition in the last rinse phase. This addition is preferably carried out by inserting the liquid additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention in the compartment / space of the washing machine normally used for the insertion of softening additives, that is, additives adopted by the washing machine in the last phase of rinse.

Another object of the present invention also refers to the process for preparing the liquid additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention, which requires a precise and specific sequence of steps, carried out in the exact order as disclosed in the claim eleven.

The process for obtaining a liquid additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention comprises the following operative steps in the order indicated below:

a) dissolve any of the preservative components and the sensory component, in water, under stirring and until complete dissolution;

b) subsequently adding, in succession and waiting for complete dissolution, the performance enhancers, the anionic surfactant and an acid with a pK of less than 6;

c) premixing, separately, the components in powder form, in the absence of water, that is, the non-ionic surfactant, any fragrance in powder form, the softener component selected from quaternary silicones, amino-modified silicones and guar gum and mixtures thereof, a possible viscosifying agent such as cellulose; and adding said premix, maintained under vigorous stirring, to the solution resulting from step b), until complete dissolution;

d) premixing, separately, a possible antifoaming agent and the amino-modified polysiloxane softening component, in the presence of water, and adding said premix to the solution resulting from step c), until complete dissolution;

e) subsequently adding, in succession and waiting for complete dissolution, the softening component comprising quaternary silicones and possible colorants;

f) premixing, separately, a possible opacifying agent that is a styrene / acrylic copolymer, and water and adding said premix, to the solution resulting from step e), until complete dissolution;

g) subsequently add, in succession and until complete dissolution, any of the possible suspending and viscosifying agents and water until the complement up to 100.

In order to obtain a stable and effective integrated action liquid additive composition, it is important that the ingredients are added in the specified order and that each subsequent component or premix is added only when all other components are fully dissolved.

In particular, the fragrance microcapsules must be added in the first stage of the process and directly in water to improve their suspension, dispersion and the consequent stability. The order of addition of the surfactants is also important and must be that specified above in order to obtain maximum homogeneity and facilitate their insertion into the formulation. Citric acid must be added in step b) indicated above, since, if it is added later, the darkening of the dough is favored. The addition of citric acid before the fragrance, in fact, prevents color change, which increases stability and also facilitates the insertion of the cationic guar gum.

Step c) to premix the powders, in the absence of water, with fragrance and non-ionic surfactant, is essential to homogeneously insert the same powders into the formulation. Dusts in direct contact with water could actually form clots that are very difficult to dissolve.

The subsequent premix formation of step d) also allows the amino modified polysiloxane softener component to begin to disperse in water (approximately 1% by weight), which improves the homogeneity of the dispersion thereof in the final additive composition. .

The suspending agent must be added in the final stage because, since it has a suspending effect and a viscosifying effect, if it were added in the previous stages, it could jeopardize the homogeneous distribution of all other raw materials added later. The water to make up the volume is added at the end of the procedure to ensure that there are no residues of suspending agent that have not dispersed perfectly.

In addition to the advantages indicated above, the fundamental advantage of the additive composition with integrated action according to the present invention lies in the fact that, thanks to the particular combination of components that make up the additive composition, it is capable of obtaining optimal results in terms of softness and fragrance of the dry garment, which exerts an additional cleaning action specifically in the final stage, as demonstrated in the following examples, with the use of an extremely low amount of surfactant (less than 10% by weight) .

The following examples are provided for illustrative purposes only.

Example 1

The composition according to the present invention, having the formulation indicated in the following Table 1, was prepared by using the preparation procedure previously described for liquid additive compositions with integrated action.

The fragrance used in the present example is Lavander Bloost 01 by Givaudan, but it can be substituted by any other suitable fragrance for this purpose.

The colorant used in a percentage equal to 0.001% is a 50% w / w mixture of Liquitint blue hp and Liquitint pink fb, which in any case can be replaced by any other suitable colorant for this purpose.

The following tests were then carried out to demonstrate the softening and cleaning action of the liquid additive composition with integrated action according to the formulation indicated in Table 1.

Regarding stability over time, the liquid additive composition of Table 1 remains stable for up to three months of storage testing.

The storage test was carried out by keeping the product in the final container, in an oven, at a controlled temperature of 4 ° C, 20 ° C and 40 ° C respectively, and an evaluation of the products was carried out every month in terms of color, fragrance and overall visual appearance.

The composition according to the present invention basically maintained its organoleptic characteristics, according to expectations (that is, no variations or acceptable compared to the standard). The reference / standard sample is the same composition kept at a constant temperature of 4 ° C.

This was followed by a test for efficacy and smoothness.

The efficacy test or cleaning performance test was carried out by using, as a comparative product, the commercial product "Omino Bianco Gel Additive".

It was found that the test with the detergent product Omino Bianco liquid composition of Table 1 in the softener compartment (B) demonstrated the best effectiveness in terms of removing stains.

The purpose of the softness evaluation test is to evaluate the softness profile of the liquid composition of Table 1 with integrated action, when using, as a comparative product, a Fabuloso® softening product sold by Colgate.

The softness assessment test was carried out on a sample of 50 women who had the following characteristics: 50% of the women were between 25 and 40 years old and 50% of the women were between 41 and 61 years old of age, all of middle / upper social class, and 100% responsible for the purchase and cleaning of their own homes, 100% users of fabric softeners and 100% users or not of additives / liquid gels for washing clothes. The test is carried out on two washed towels, by inserting the two different products of comparison, in the softener compartment and by requesting the sample of women who place the two towels in order of softness.

The results are indicated in Figure 2 and are expressed as the sum of the results attributed by the users to the softness of the towels washed with each product (B is the product according to the present invention, while D is the comparative product ).

The smoothness profile of the liquid composition of Table 1 with integrated action was shown to be substantially comparable to the smoothness profile of the commercial Fabuloso® product (the difference is not statistically relevant).

Claims (11)

1. The additive composition according to one or more of the preceding claims, wherein in the cleaning / stain remover component (i), the performance enhancer (b) consists of a mixture of an alkoxylated polyethyleneimine and an aqueous chloride solution of C ¹² and C ¹⁴ alkyl (hydroxyethyl) dimethyl ammonium. The additive composition according to one or more of the preceding claims, in which the weight ratio between the performance enhancer b) and the anionic surfactant c) is greater than 1: 1 and preferably equal to 5: 1. The additive composition according to one or more of the preceding claims, wherein the sensory component (iii) also comprises a colorant and an opacifying agent. 8. The additive composition according to one or more of the preceding claims, wherein the pH of the composition is less than 5, more preferably less than 3.5. 9. The additive composition according to one or more of the preceding claims, comprising: (i) the cleaning / stain remover component, in an amount ranging from 0.4 to 10 % by weight, preferably ranging from 3 to 7% by weight relative to the total weight of the additive composition; ii) the softening component, in an amount ranging from 0.3 to 10% by weight, preferably from 0.6 to 0.8% by weight relative to the total weight of the additive composition; iii) the sensory component comprises fragrance microcapsules, in an amount ranging from 0.1 to 5% by weight, preferably ranging from 0.5 to 1% by weight relative to the total weight of the additive composition and the perfuming oil , in an amount ranging from 0.1 to 10% by weight, and preferably from 0.5 to 3% by weight with respect to the total weight of the composition; iv) an acid with a pK less than 6 as a pH regulator and buffer, in an amount ranging from 0.01% to 0.5% by weight, preferably ranging from 0.25% to 0.45% by weight relative to the total weight of the additive composition; v) water, complement up to 100. 10. Use of an additive liquid composition with integrated action according to one or more of claims 1 to 9, as a softening, perfuming, cleaning and / or stain remover agent, by adding the additive composition in the final washing phase of one or more garments and, more specifically, by adding in the last rinse phase. 11. A process for preparing the additive liquid composition with integrated action according to one or more of claims 1 to 9, comprising the following operating steps in the order indicated: a) dissolve any of the possible preservative components and the sensory component (iii), in water, under stirring and until complete dissolution; b) subsequently adding, in succession and waiting for complete dissolution, the performance enhancers (b), the anionic surfactant (c) and an acid with a pK lower than 6 (iv); c) premixing, separately, the components in powder form, in the absence of water, that is, the non-ionic surfactant, a possible fragrance in powder form, the softening component selected from quaternary silicones, amino-modified silicones and guar gum and mixtures thereof, a possible viscosifying agent such as cellulose; and adding said premix, maintained under vigorous stirring, to the solution resulting from step b), until complete dissolution; d) premixing, separately, a possible antifoaming agent and the amino-modified polysiloxane softening component, in the presence of water, and adding said premix to the solution resulting from step c), until complete dissolution; e) subsequently adding, in succession and while waiting for complete dissolution, the softening component comprising quaternary silicones and any of the possible colorants; f) premixing, separately, a possible opacifying agent that is a styrene / acrylic copolymer, and water and adding said premix to the solution resulting from step e), until complete dissolution; g) subsequently add, in succession and until complete dissolution, any of the possible suspending and viscosifying agents and water up to a complement of up to 100.
