Abstract
A procedure to prepare 3- (1,1,1-trifluoroethyl) -thiomethyl-7-sulfamyl-3,4-dihydrobenzo-1,1-dioxo-1-thia-2,4-diazines 6-substituted of the general formula : ** (See formula) ** where A is hydrogen, Cl, Br, trifluoromethyl or alkyl or alkoxy, each containing 1 to 3 carbon atoms; and R and R1 are the same or different and are hydrogen atoms or lower alkyl groups containing up to 3 carbon atoms, except that R is not an isopropyl group and the non-toxic salts of these compounds are characterized by: (a) condensing a substituted aniline derivative of the general formula: ** (See formula) ** where A, R and R1 are as stated above with an aldehyde of the formula: ** (See formula) ** or an acetal or hemiacetal derivative thereof wherein B is CF3CH2S-; or B is a halogen atom or an aryl sulfonic acid residue, in which case the resulting product is further condensed with trifluoroethyl mercaptan (CF3CH2SH), (b) and, if desired, when R in the compounds produced in step (a) is hydrogen, form the corresponding alkali metal salt and alkylate with methyl, ethyl or normal propyl bromide in a polar inert solvent a temperature in the range of 5 to 35º; (c) and, if desired, also, forming the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
