Construction panel with a mechanical locking system Field of the invention

The present invention relates to a construction panel such as a floor panel, a wall panel, a ceiling panel, a furniture component or the like, which is provided with a mechanical locking system, and a method for producing said construction panel with said locking system.

Background of the technique

For example, in WO2006 / 043893, construction panels equipped with a mechanical locking system comprising a movable and elastic tongue which acts together with a tongue groove for vertical locking are known and disclosed. The tongue is an independent part and is composed, for example, of plastic and is inserted in a sliding groove on one edge of a panel. The tongue is inserted into the sliding groove during a vertical assembly of the panels and moves back into the tongue groove of an adjacent panel when the panels have reached a locked position.

Also known is a locking system for panels comprising a tongue, which can move along the edge of a panel, see, for example WO2009 / 116926, and act in conjunction with a tongue groove for vertical locking. The tongue is an independent part and is provided with several protrusions, which initially coincide with recesses of the tongue groove. The panels can be assembled by a vertical movement and the tongue moves to a position in which the protuberances no longer coincide with the recesses in order to obtain the vertical block.

Although the description refers to a floor panel, the description of techniques and problems thereof is also applicable to other applications, such as panels for other purposes, for example wall panels, ceiling panels, furniture, etc.

A disadvantage with the known system is that an independent tongue must be produced and special insertion machines are required to position the tongue in the travel groove with high precision.

Another known prior art is WO2011 / 001326.

The previous description of various known aspects is the characterization of the applicant thereof, and is not an acknowledgment that none of the above descriptions is considered prior art.

Summary of the invention

It is an object of certain embodiments of the present invention to provide an improvement with respect to the techniques described above and the known technique.

A further object is to provide a locking system with a flexible and movable tongue that can be formed from the edge of the construction panel. Such a system can simplify production since it is not necessary to produce and place any loose and additional parts in the correct position in the locking system.

Another object is to provide a more efficient production method that requires less complicated production equipment.

At least some of these and other objects and advantages that will be apparent from the description have been achieved by construction panels provided with a mechanical locking system comprising a tongue, on an edge of a first panel, which acts in conjunction with a tongue groove, on an edge of a second adjacent panel, for vertical locking of construction panels. The edge of the first panel may be provided with a sliding slot, which opens downwards, and comprises an internal wall, an external wall and an upper wall. The tongue can be formed from the edge of the first panel. A movable part of the tongue can move to the sliding groove and the upper wall can be located vertically on an upper surface of the movable part of the tongue.

The length of the sliding groove, along the edge of the first panel, is preferably less than the length of the edge of the first panel. The length of the sliding groove is preferably in the range of about 10% to about 90% of the length of the edge of the first panel

The movable and elastic part of the tongue is preferably configured to move to the displacement groove by means of a lower flange of the tongue groove during assembly of the first and second panels. The movable part of the tongue can be retracted at least partially, when the first and second panels are in a locked position, and to the tongue groove of the second panel. The edge part and the movable tongue part are preferably configured so that the movable part is introduced in an essentially horizontal direction. An essentially horizontal displacement can reduce the risk that the movable part of the tongue gets stuck in the displacement groove.

The upper wall can act together, for guiding the movable part of the tongue and / or for vertical locking, with the upper surface.

The upper wall may be located somewhat above the upper surface of the movable part, but a position at an essentially equal level can make the locking system more stable and more resistant.

The sliding groove can be arranged in relation to the edge of the first panel so that a thin wall or groove that opens laterally is created, on the outer wall of the sliding groove, above and / or below the movable part of the tongue.

In order to improve the elastic properties of the movable part 66 of the tongue 30, the displacement groove 60 can be filled or provided with an elastic material such as plastic or rubber. Improved elasticity properties can result in an improved blockage.

In Fig. 10A, an embodiment is shown comprising a sliding slot 60 with an external wall, which is not intended to break during assembly. The side view in Figure 10A shows that the distance from the edge of the first panel 1 is increased. The displacement groove has the result that a movable and elastic tongue part 66 is obtained. Figures 11A-C show an embodiment in which parts of the lower flange of the tongue groove are also made flexible and elastic.
