Procedure for lengthening hair and / or thickening hair

The present invention relates to a method for lengthening hair and / or thickening hair.

The modification of the shape or color of the hair to modify the image is generally known and is very common. The short time styling by means of hair gels or hair sprays and the styling that is maintained for a longer time such as permanent as well as the had or the fading are assured state of the technical knowledge and can be carried out in large part also in domestic application.

Another field of image modification has developed in recent years: hair lengthening. According to this it is a question of different procedures to be able to show longer the own hair in the head by means of tufts of artificial hair or true foreign.

The foreign hair is fixedly connected in this respect by strands with the hair itself. This can be done by heat, ultrasound or mechanically. Another possibility is the incorporation of braids, in which one works in series. The fixation takes place especially on the back of the head, so that the hair itself from the top of the head falls sufficiently on the binding sites.

According to this there are different procedures:

• Synthetic fibers are fixed in the artificial hair process by means of a thermo-adhesive in the vicinity of the scalp, the artificial hairs are also tightened with metal hairpins.

The procedures in which an adhesive is applied in the produced union have been described for example in US 4,934,387 (Megna). A procedure for fixing a strand of self-adhering hair is disclosed in document USA-6,135,122. Document DE 202 03 301 U1 finally discloses a device and a procedure, in which several strands of hair with adhesion sites are found in a common support sheet and thus can be applied simultaneously.

US 6,446,636 (Vitallo) discloses hair extension procedures, in which at least one strand of hair is used which is provided with a fixing element. Hair extensions have also been reported in US2006 / 196296 A1 (Gill).

US 6,446,636 B1 discloses a method for fixing additional strands of hair to natural hair, taking a non-thermoplastic resin adhesive composition (for example polyvinyl alcohol), dye and perfume to the hair to adhere a strand of hair. US2006 / 169296 A1 describes a procedure for hair extension using an adhesive strip on both sides.

It was now found that certain procedural modes are especially suited to meet this objective and clearly extend the possibilities of application, so that it is no longer necessary to work with heat.

The object of the present invention in a first embodiment is a method for lengthening the hair and / or thickening the hair, which comprises the following steps:

- providing at least one strand of hair, which is provided with a fixing element containing - with respect to the weight of the fixing element - at least 10% by weight of synthetic polymer (s);

- swelling the fixing element by applying at least one solvent on the fixing element,

- place in (in each case) a lock of hair from one's own hair and

- Let the solvent evaporate.

In the first stage of the process according to the invention there is provided at least one strand of hair that is provided with a fixing element. A lock of hair of this type is constituted by a part of hair, in which a fixing element is placed. The hair part is constituted by a plurality of natural and / or artificial fibers ("strand of hair"). Natural ("true") hair often comes from India or China, since in this case haircuts are often traditionally long. In India, braids are partially cut for religious reasons. Currently most of the human hair comes from India. Animal hairs can also be used according to the invention, giving good results according to this for example buffalo abdomen hair. The hair is washed, classified according to length, wavy and dyed. The outer flake layer is also partially separated to prevent felting.

Hair strands that can be used according to the invention can also be made of artificial hair. A very common material are synthetic fibers of poly (acrylonitrile-co-vinyl chloride) from Kanekalon. Also suitable according to the invention are tufts, in which both natural hair and synthetic fibers are found next to each other.

In the hair part there is a fixing element, which is preferably placed at one end of the hair strand. It is also possible to place the fixing element in other places, for example in the center of a strand of hair, however, by means of this, a development of the unnatural strand is generated depending on the length of the strand of hair. Preferably, the fixing element is located, therefore, at one end (hereinafter referred to as "upper end") of the hair strand.

The fixing element is preferably sized in a small and thin way, so that the subsequent fixation site in the head is not noticed. Preferred fasteners have spatial extensions in the range of millimeters, for example heights of 1 to 4 mm and lengths or widths of 5 to 80 mm, preferably 10 to 70 mm, especially preferably 20 to 60 mm and in particular from 30 to 50 mm.

In order to be used in the process according to the invention, the fixing element must be able to swell through the solvent. This is guaranteed because the fixing element contains - with respect to the weight of the fixing element - at least 10% by weight of synthetic polymer (s).

Preferred methods according to the invention are characterized in that the fixing element contains

- with respect to the weight of the fixing element - at least 25% by weight, more preferably at least 50% by weight, even more preferably at least 75% by weight and in particular at least 90% by weight of polymer (s) synthetic (s).

By the term "synthetic polymers" is understood in the context of the present application plastics that can be prepared according to all polyreactions-polyadditions, polycondensations and polymerizations and common polymer analog reactions for the synthesis of polymers.

In especially preferred embodiments of the present invention, the fixing element according to the invention comprises at least one polyurethane (PU) polymer.

Especially preferred processes according to the invention are characterized in that the fixing element contains - with respect to the weight of the fixing element - at least 10% by weight, preferably at least 25% by weight, more preferably at least the 50% by weight, even more preferably at least 75% by weight and in particular at least 90% by weight of polyurethane polymers.

The placement of the hair lock provided above in the hair itself is carried out in the process according to the invention because the fixing element is treated with a solvent. By this the fixing element swells and thus becomes adhesive so that it can be fixed to a lock of hair of the hair itself. The solvent is then evaporated and the fixation site loses its tack. In this way the necessary use known by the state of the art of high temperatures is not necessary. Evaporation according to the invention of the solvent can be promoted by heat (for example by means of a dryer or the use of a hand dryer of hot air), however this is not necessary according to the invention.

For use in the process according to the invention solvents are preferred which swell the fixing element quickly and efficiently and evaporate after application to the tuft quickly. The absence of physiologically broad objections is another criterion in the choice of suitable solvents. Especially preferred processes according to the invention are characterized in that the solvent is selected from acetone (DMK), isopropanol, hexane, methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) and ethyl acetate.

In the simplest variant of the process according to the invention individual hair strands are provided with in each case a fixing element and each strand of hair on its own is fixed to the own hair by swelling of the fixing element by application of at least a solvent on the fixing element and by placing in (in each case) a lock of hair from the hair itself and by evaporation of the solvent.

However, it is also possible with the method according to the invention to apply a plurality of tufts at the same time. This can be done comfortably by applying several strands with their fixing elements on a support material (for example a film strip) and then applying the solvent to several fixing elements that are located on the support. In this way, strands of hair are placed in an application stage on the hair itself in different places.

A device that can be used in accordance with the invention of this type of hair strands is constituted by a number of hair strands that are preferably arranged in an aligned and essentially parallel manner and that are constituted by a number of essentially predetermined hair, which can be natural or synthetic and have colors selected in an appropriate way and to tell the truth of a single color or with wicks. The strands of hair are preferably arranged essentially at the same distance. These extend from their respective ends with the fixing elements, which are configured to join with the hair, to their free ends.

Such a device also includes a support band, on which the fixing elements are arranged.

The material that forms the support band is preferably thin and like a film. This can be separated from the hair itself after evaporation of the solvent, which can result in unpleasant "hair pulling". Support bands that are thin and discreet are preferred so that they can remain in the hair without the sensation of wearing it bothering or without being noticed optically.

In a preferred embodiment of this process variant, the support band is composed of absorbent material. By this the application of the solvent is facilitated and the swelling of the fixing elements is favored.

Preferred methods according to the invention are characterized in that the hair strand / hair strands endowed / endowed with a fixing element additionally presents / presents a support band that is composed of absorbent material.

The support band can have a defined length in this procedure variant and have only one strand of individual hair or a predetermined number of strands of hair, or it can have an undefined length so that the executing person can cut segments to obtain the desired number of strands of hair. In all cases, the executing person can separate one or several strands of hair that are not compatible with the current placement, simply cutting off a part of the support band. In each arrangement the hair strands can have the same length, size and color, however it is also possible to provide variations in length to create stepped elongations, as well as color variations to be able to generate complex strands and different sizes.

A preferred variant of the process according to the invention is characterized in that several strands of hair are provided that are positioned aligned and essentially parallel with their fasteners on a support band.

As already mentioned, variants of the process according to the invention are also preferred in this case, in which the support band is composed of absorbent material.

The processes according to the invention especially preferred are characterized in that the support band is composed of absorbent paper, preferably filter paper.

In a special embodiment, the necessary solvent is already found in the fixing element, that is, the polymer is already in the swollen state and can be applied spontaneously. This embodiment however requires a special outer container. Accordingly, a blister pack is preferably used which is stable to diffusion compared to the solvent. The application of hair strands can be done directly after taking them from the outer container, for example from the blister pack.

The placement of the device according to the invention (hair tuft) is preferably performed tightly on the scalp. In this case, procedures are preferred in which the placement in (in each case) a lock of hair of the own hair is carried out at a distance of 0.5 to 2 cm, preferably 0.75 to 1.5 cm and in particular from 0.9 to 1.1 cm of the scalp.

Modulation of the devices according to the invention in tufts of own hair is possible with the procedure according to the invention in a very short time. In processes according to the preferred invention, cooling or evaporation of the solvent is carried out for a period of 2 to 60 minutes, preferably 10 to 45 minutes, and in particular 20 to 30 minutes.

This time interval can be shortened, as already mentioned, by application of directed heat.

Another advantage of the method according to the invention consists in the reversibility of hair lengthening. If the client or the client no longer wishes to lengthen the hair, then the device according to the invention should not be separated through heating or even separated by cutting by the hairdresser (such as in the case of customary commercial systems) . Rather it is possible to separate the devices without problems of the hair itself. Another object of the present invention is therefore a procedure for the separation of hair extensions, in which at least one strand of hair (device according to the invention) placed by means of a procedure according to the invention follows from the own hair by means of heat action and / or action of at least one solvent on the fixing element.

The procedure according to the invention can be performed both by professional hairdressers and in domestic application. The procedure is especially simple, when all the necessary components for performing the procedure are provided to the user prepared for the application. Another object of the present invention is therefore a kit of parts, comprising in a common outer container

- at least one strand of hair, which is provided with a fixing element, containing (with respect to the weight of the fixing element) at least 10% by weight of synthetic polymer (s);

- at least one solvent contained in a package, which is suitable for swelling of the fixing element.

The kit according to the invention comprising a common outer package, at least one strand of hair provided with a fixing element as well as a container containing solvent. This container is used to store the solvent and facilitates its dosage and application. Preferred packages according to the invention are for example tubes, dispensers, bottles, cans, crucibles, jars, spray cans etc. These can be made of the most diverse materials, for example plastic, metal, glass, composite materials etc. The packages have been widely described in the state of the art and depending on the product to be packaged there is a wide variety of commercially used packages in the most diverse shapes and sizes.

Color and shape configurations can be varied widely in these outer containers.
