Abstract

Un método para disolver dióxido de carbono procedente de gas de combustión u otro gas que contiene dióxido de carbono en una disolución acuosa y para obtener un compuesto de aluminio, tal como bauxita a través de la neutralización de la disolución acuosa que contiene dióxido de carbono por medio de minerales de feldespato, caracterizado por que dicho gas, en el que la presión parcial del dióxido de carbono se mantiene al menos a 40 kPa (0,4 bar) por presurización de dicho gas con un compresor (22, 22A, 22B), se conduce a un procedimiento de disolución (23), procedimiento en el que la mayor parte del dióxido de carbono se disuelve en un flujo de agua, y en el que la disolución acuosa de dióxido de carbono así obtenida se somete adicionalmente a neutralización haciéndola pasar a través de un espacio de neutralización (24, 28), relleno con un material que contiene mineral de feldespato, momento en el que los iones hidrógeno de dicha disolución son reemplazados por iones de metales alcalinos o alcalinotérreos, y el aluminio de los minerales de feldespato se convierte en bauxita, que se puede separar (25, 29) y usar, a condición de que el procedimiento de disolución (23) y de neutralización (24, 29) procedan en ausencia de productos químicos.
