Abstract

Un procedimiento para producir semilla híbrida de tomate, caracterizado por tratar una variedad de planta de tomate antes de la apertura de los botones de las flores con un ácido alifático clorado, que contenga de 3 a 4 átomos de carbono y de 2 a 4 átomos de cloro o una sal del mismo, aplicar el mismo en una proporción y en una concentración en un medio diluyente por debajo de la proporción y concentración que provoque un daño grave a la planta en las condiciones existentes en el momento de la aplicación, continuar el desarrollo de la planta así tratada, desarrollar en la misma flores con machos estériles, haciendo que la flor de dicha planta tratada sea fecundada por polen de una variedad diferente de planta de tomate, continuar el desarrollo de esta planta hasta que maduren las flores así fecundadas que lleva y recoger separadamente la semilla de dicho fruto maduro.
