Abstract
An aerostatic balloon comprises an envelope 1 made of thin plastics sheet material e.g. polyethylene, which is of a dark colour 1, preferably black, and is open at one zone 2 thereof for being partially filed with air and then closed. The heating of the inner air in the envelope 1, after exposure to solar rays, develops a lift exceeding the weight of the balloon, so that the latter will fluctuate in the atmosphere. The balloon may be used for advertising or as a scientific toy. A mass may be hung from it to maintain the balloon in a desired attitude.
