Abstract

2,4,6,8,10,12-Hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexa-azatetracyclo(5.5.0.0.5, 9.03,11)dodecane (I) is new. Independent claims are also included for (1) a method for the synthesis of (I) by (a) nitrosation of 4,10-dibenzyl-2,6,8,12-tetra-acetyl-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexa-azatetracyclo-(5.5.0.05,9.03,11)dodecane (II) followed by (b) nitration of the product and (2) pyrotechnic compositions containing (I).
